Japan: Ferrous Scrap Exports Fall 6% Y-o-Y in H1 2018
Mining News Pro - Japan, world’s third largest ferrous scrap exporter after EU-28 and US, has witnessed a considerable fall in its scrap export volumes in H1 2018. As per recent customs data, Japan exported 3,678,527 MT ferrous scrap during first half of 2018, down 6% Y-o-Y as against 3,927,375 MT imports during the first half of last year. Falling demand from major importers like China, Taiwan and Asian markets, slowdown in purchases of low grade and H2 scrap from South Korea along with strong domestic demand on Olympics-2020 constructions have resulted in lowering scrap exports from Japan in H1 2018.

Russia Likely to Ban Scrap Exports from Black Sea Ports - Reports
Mining News Pro - Russian government has already imposed the ban on exports of ferrous scrap which will be effective for six months period from 21st July’2018 for the exports activities subjected to 9 Far Eastern ports due to lack of infrastructure. According to customs data maintained with SteelMint, the country is fourth largest scrap exporter after EU-28, US and Japan respectively and supplies around 5-5.5 MnT scrap per year.

Global Steel Scrap Exports Surged 4% to 87.13 Mt in 2016
Mining News Agency - The steel industry statistics released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel) suggests that world steel scrap exports ended 4% higher in 2016, upon comparison with the previous year. The exports totaled 87.127 million tons (Mt) as compared with 83.848 Mt of scrap exported during 2015.
